Bombardier and Kigo

KIGO heats a second industrial hall at BOMBARDIER site, one of the leading manufacturer of trains.

The project.

Heating of the new testing hall for new CFF trains with surface of 26 m X 220 m

The comments by Mr. Gérard Savary, Manager and Plant Engineering at BOMBARDIER TRANSPORT (Switzerland) SA Villeneuve:

"Performance: The energy consumption of this new hall (about 70,000 m3) is 60% inferior to the hall built in 1989. This is certainly the result of using the panels in conjunction to new, high performing insulation materials. Comparing this to another industrial hangar of 26'000m3 heated with forced air heaters and with similar insulation, the consumption is identical. Hence, we consume nearly 3 times less energy with the KIGO solution.

Emotional: In our old assembly site “Les Agites”, the working environment comfort has been drastically improved, providing homogenous temperature distribution and temperature stability, specifically after opening our large doors (5m x 5 m) to let our trains move out. There has been reduction in air movement and dust, making the environment more pleasant for our staff and helping work quality."

The goal.

  • 800 m2 of KIGO climate panels installed at 10m height

  • Low temperature heating system (35° - 40°C)

  • Installation system using cables attached to the metal structure

The solution.

  • The KIGO panels are connected to a district heating network (wood heating)

The strong points of our solution.

  • Important reduction of heating costs (>60%) when compared to traditional systems

  • System reactivity to changes in load

  • No dust movement

  • Comfort in an industrial work environment
